From Wikipedia:
Egypt, officially the Arab Republic of Egypt, is a country in North Africa that includes the Sinai Peninsula, a land bridge to Asia. Covering an area of about 1,001,450 square kilometers (386,660 sq mi), Egypt borders Libya to the west, Sudan to the south, and the Gaza Strip and Israel to the east. The northern coast borders the Mediterranean Sea and the island of Cyprus; the eastern coast borders the Red Sea.

Egypt is one of the most populous countries in Africa. The great majority of its estimated 78 million people (2007) live near the banks of the Nile River in an area of about 40,000 square kilometers (15,000 sq mi) where the only arable agricultural land is found. The large areas of the Sahara Desert are sparsely inhabited. About half of Egypt's residents live in urban areas, with the majority spread across the densely populated centers of greater Cairo, Alexandria and other major cities in the Nile Delta.

Egypt is famous for its ancient civilization and some of the world's most famous monuments, including the Giza pyramid complex and the Great Sphinx. The southern city of Luxor contains numerous ancient artifacts, such as the Karnak Temple and the Valley of the Kings. Egypt is widely regarded as an important political and cultural nation of the Middle East.

Egyptians, would you please tell me how Egyptian Muslims and Egyptian Christians get along in Egypt?
Question:
Is there tension between the two? At times I hear some anger from Egyptian Christians against the Muslims, why is that? I am a Spanish Muslim by the way, but I was wondering. It would be nice to hear from the Egyptians themselves, and even nicer to hear from Christians if there are any around here. Gracias to all.

Answer:
For the most part, there is a sullen tolerance. There is not a great deal of respect either side for each others beliefs, but overall the level of actual violence is quite low. The main problem is that when something does kick off (usually due to a non-religious dispute given a religious "branding") it tends to start a chain reaction of tit for tat violence between the two. Attitudes regards the "other" are pretty much mutual, and for the most part people keep friendships, relationships and business within their own communities as far as is practical, though there is a small amount of cross-religious friendship and marriage, but it's notable mainly for it's rarity.

What is the origin of the name of the card game Egyptian Rat Screw/Rats/Ransom/War?
Question:
This game is called many things: Egyptian Rat Screw, Egyptian Rats, Egyptian Ransom, and Egyptian War, among other names. Where do the names originate from? Why "Egyptian"?

Answer:
(Here's what Wiki says...The page is pretty in depth, you should check it out) The gameplay appears to be a combination between that of Beggar-My-Neighbour, a game known in Britain as early as the 1860s, and the concept of slapping for cards on certain combinations, possibly derived and expanded from the gameplay of Slapjack. The origins of the name are unknown. The game gained popularity in the mid-to-late 1990s and is now widely known throughout the United States, especially among schoolchildren. It is known to have existed at least back to the mid 1970s....

Egyptians, what would be the issues for you personally of marrying a non Egyptian, both male and female answer
Question:
This is for you personally, also by non Egyptians please include marrying an Arab, please dont assume this question is just about Egyptian /Western but any Egyptian/other? Please also those who are the other/i.e non Egyptian, part of this question, what are your observations and experiences, benefits or not? This is about you personally..what do you think?

Answer:
Ok, I will never get married to an Arab person, and when I say Arab, I mean from the Arab Pennsylvania… and before every one attacks me of being racist , judge your mind and read the following, While being in Kuwait time ago, I was watching a TV program about this subject, One famous Kuwaiti religious clerk (too bad I do not remember his name) stated his fatwah, that women from the Gulf is not allowed to get married to any one not from there (Islamicly), He based his fatwah that In Islam a condition of the marriage is the social compatibility, and according to him that the Kuwait (the gulf ) posses a noble blood , that no Man is compatible to them socially,, But ironically , this Idiot, allowed men to be married to a non gulf females, as men are the head of the family and these men will pull the foreign women from trash and raise their level,s,, I know that , what this racist, said is not Islamic, but the fact that these people think like that really frightened me,, why would an Egyptian man get married to someone who feesl more noble, and superior than him? And why an Egyptian women get married to a guy who thinks he is grabbing her from trash?? Those moronic prefer to have their women as spinsters (which is the case now in the gulf , esp , In Saudi Arabic ) than getting married to foreigners such as an Egyptian (although lots are spinsters in the gulf, do u see lots of the females married to Egyptians)???/ Thas was an Introduction: Now to the real stories: 1) Most of the time , Egyptian women are treated like slaves when married to Arabs, a servant to his other wives and other children and not be able even to come back to her own country , if she wants to escape her fate, 2) As the Arabs do not give nationality to Egyptian men who are married to the few home left women who agreed ( under the need ) to accept them, these women control completely the wealth , life , of these men, My millionaire neighbor can not divorce his (disaster) Saudi , because if he does so, he will be losing all the wealth he made in 20 years, working in this desert,,,if you see this guy who is younger than me you will think of him as 80 years old… 3)They say in a Dutch proverb , it is almost impossible that two from different faiths sleep on the same bellow, these proverbs are the result of human experience,,, this is very true, but we can not narrow our mind defining faith as religious believes, It is meant here by faith : the cultural views , and the understanding of different life’ aspects . It is better that you sit and listen to the same song , and have the same understanding of its context, knowing the language only is not enough, we have to have the same reflex from the words psychologically to be able to have the same understanding,, that means the compatibility is an essential aspect, in marriage, that will be applied even in the same (nationality) marriage, but its is crucial when it comes to a mix-culture marriage;;;;;;;so Cultural compatibility is an other aspect 4)The ability and the acceptance of both couples to live in each other land: *It is very immature to think that an agreement before marriage will abide one of the couples concerning the children’s custody in cause of a divorce later, The child’s custody is not the father right , nor the mother’s ,It is the child’s right to be with his mother till a certain age, No one can agree on an other person ‘rights even if this person is his/her child.. in case of such agreement before marriage, in most cases , it will be nil by any court in any place in the world,, plus, even if the man or the woman have this right , that does not mean anyone can take the child and leave where they used to live, there is always a condition when the custody is given to enable the other party to see the child,, In a simple language, if I am living in England and divorce my English wife, and have the child custody, I can not just take him and leave to Egypt, as the mother (or the father ) will not be able to see him weekly,,, The best is to be sure that both side intend to live where they had the child and formed the marriage, One of the strangest story I heard , a Russian woman was married to a French man, the man died and the woman inherited him and decided to take her child with her back to Russia , The French government itself refused the departure of the child to Russia, claming that this child is a French citizen and there was fear for his life to be raised in Russia,,, Imagine that 5)The reason of the marriage: we have to be very honest with ourselves, lots of mix marriage are only for benefits such as a salvation from certain circumstances and benefiting from the marriage other than Love and the reality of forming a family; such as a resident ship. Better opportunity, in the other person ‘s land, when the beneficiary got what he/she seeks, they always break the family ties, and the only victims are always the children,,,,, 6)Needy nations: it is well known that one of the reasons of lying is the need, when people need they do not have a free well, I would rather to get married to a not - needy person, who enjoy a free well to choose and decide rather to someone who just get married to me out of the need,, when they do not not need any more , it is easier to leave, the needy nations are very well known and I do not (need Lol) to mention them, as it will draw lots of thumb down to me… 7)Poverty, traditions and culture: It is very well known that the Egyptian marriages are costly, the majority of the Egyptians are not able to marry among each others for that reason, it is known also that marriage to foreigner do not cost that amount of money needed with the Egyptians; It is a big mistake to get married to a foreigner only because it is cheaper, Egyptian men (allhamdollah) are enjoying the ability of the sweet talk and wide hopeful imagination for the future, it is easy to convince a straight foreigner of the better tomorrow , By short time the foreigner becomes herself an Egyptian in mentality, and know what is going around her, and then the rebellion starts ,,it is a big mistake to think we can lie for ever,, 6 months in Egypt, the foreign female becomes a women from al dowa’a and see the light 8) Legal issues: Embassies and consults are not created to serve the victim, it is mainly to serve their natives even they are the criminals, it is a big mistake to think in case of problems , quitting departure of one of the couple , that the his/her consult will help to regain the other side rights, they will even wave the right of a visa to travel to challenge their natives, (I saw that myself with an Egyptian female who was married to a Briton and found he was a crock , left her with lots of debts a and unbalanced checks) when she explained that to the consult, they were very sympathetic with her but refused to help stating they are serving their natives not her even if they were criminals... I can continue but I think that was enough, Warning: there are lots of exception for the above mentioned points

Answer:

When an Egyptian Man is Serious about a woman, will he introduce her to his familiy?
Question:
I am curious about Egyptian culture. When an Egyptian (Muslim) man is serious about a lady, will he introduce her to his family? Or will it also be the other way around....will he not introduce her to his family if he is really not interested in her in a serious way. Also, is there a reason also that he would NOT introduce her to his male friends? Is this disrespectful to do this? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide....

Answer:
Yeah i believe he's serious because he does want to introduce you to his family which i believe he had actually talked to them about you and now he's taking the further step for you to get to know them and know how the elders think and their opinions on western culture and western women, so yeah if you are good you are going to strike right at the soft spot. And about introduction to his male friends, because one of them may try to make a move on you or hit on you, this is quite risky and he wouldn't want have any chances by introducing you to someone especially that nothing is official between you guys now. So he's just playing it safe at the moment until things get sealed and then after everything is official he will introduce you eventually to all his friends and family.
